Got this exceptional 19" Small Mouth Bass today at a lake less than 20 minutes from home. I've rarely had a fish that moved so quickly, zigging and zagging, jumping and generally not interested in coming in. Without 0x leader, I would not have been able to eventually hall it in. This matches the 5# Browns I caught at the Parklands and even the Algoma Brookies. 10ft 5wt rod, dry line, Mississippi Maiden fly.

Ever fly fish for carp? It has become my "go to" quarry once I finish my May Steelhead trip - I like the challenge, and get bored of smallmouth (except if taking out a friend on a "teaching" expedition).

Hi Russ..........no I have not specifically gone for carp but I have friends who have. I've seen a few while going for bass and have had some action. You need to have heavy gear! I focus on trout spring and fall and have great bass locations close to home during the summer so have not made the extra trip time for carp or gar. Recovering from surgery so this summer may be a wash.
